This is very puzzling. To the best of my knowledge, the Afflicted have not made any attacks within the NAU. All is peaceful. This obviously raises a huge question: why have we been completely spared from the carnage and battles which have occurred everywhere else in the world?
Sumant Srivastava and his team are responsible for bringing the OmegaNet system back online after the recent crash. He believes that he has purged the system of the virus, which he postulates was uploaded by the Afflicted to disrupt the system. Mr. Srivastava acknowledges that he and Mr. Statman were both partially correct in their assumptions - a design flaw was detected in the Australian OmegaNet system, and it appears the Afflicted exploited this flaw. They used it to upload the virus which, according to Mr. Srivastava, was brilliantly written. We must now contend with the fact that the Afflicted are both intelligent and well versed in computer technology.
During the past week, many recon groups have encountered fairly large gatherings of Afflicted, but they were subsequently swiftly dealt with by NAU strike teams. All information we have gathered indicates that the Afflicted have lost interest in the continent, but my gut tells me that something is terribly wrong. We must all remain alert. I will be recalling my recon teams to base. We need to stick together and remain vigilant. As much as is possible, prepare for the unexpected.
